What's On The Unlocked Door Take a step into the unknown and travel through the secrets and spaces of 300 years of history at Seaton Delaval Hall this autumn. This event is finished. From the dungeon of The Bastille to the parties of the Gay Delavals. Through innovative storytelling and theatre, this new immersive show explores some of the lesser-known narratives in The Hall's past. The Unlocked Door is created by Joe Hufton, the award-winning Artistic Director of November Club, the North East's leading site-specific theatre company. Joe says: I’m really excited to be working at Seaton Delaval Hall making The Unlocked Door. This will be the first full production I’ve created for the company since taking over, and I’m looking forward to bringing some original immersive storytelling to their incredible building. It also marks my return to working with National Trust for the first time since creating ‘The Word Defiant’ for Les Enfants Terribles at Blickling Hall. It’s great to be collaborating with so much (for us) new talent on this project, including designer Amy Watts and Sister Shack and I can’t wait to announce the other names involved. I really hope that North East audiences will respond to this contemporary and bold take on Seaton Delaval’s past. The experience This is an immersive theatre experience that requires you to move around Seaton Delaval Hall’s spaces in small groups of 20. The performance lasts approximately an hour, and you will be required to stand for most of it. The Hall is a historic building with uneven surfaces and steps. The production contains adult themes and may not be suitable for younger children. Those with access issues who wish to book should call Seaton Delaval Hall on 0191 237 9100 before booking tickets to discuss their requirements. The performances start and end in the stables where there will be a live DJ and bar available.
